Veterans Day 2025: Virginia’s Free Book Vouchers

Virginia veterans and their families can celebrate Veterans Day 2025 by claiming free book vouchers to preserve their personal military stories, thanks to the Words of Veterans initiative and the support of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.

Veterans Day 2025

Honoring Service Through Storytelling

Words of Veterans—a veteran-led organization—has announced the availability of 1,000 complimentary print-on-demand book vouchers. These allow eligible veterans and immediate family members residing in Virginia to write, print, and receive a professionally bound 6″ × 9″ hardcover book, up to 350 pages. Veterans can easily record their military service, memoirs, or reflections through guided online prompts, with the goal of preserving legacies and experiences for future generations.

How to Claim Your Voucher

The vouchers are available through November 11, 2025 (Veterans Day) at five veterans and community locations in Northern Virginia:

  • Woodbridge Moose Lodge, Lorton
  • American Legion Post 28, Triangle
  • VFW Post 3103, Fredericksburg
  • Marine Corps League Mickey Finn Detachment #333, Triangle
  • Veterans Growing America, Woodbridge

No purchase is necessary; participants simply need to provide basic eligibility information. This program is funded by a grant from Virginia DVS, showcasing the state’s commitment to honoring the stories and contributions of its service members.

A Lasting Tribute

Founder Alex Sebby encourages all veterans—whether they served in combat, support, or peacetime—to consider putting their stories in print: “Let’s get it in print, honor your service, and share your legacy.” This initiative comes as the state focuses new attention on the importance of honoring and passing down veterans’ experiences throughout Virginia communities.
