In honor of the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, Marines, veterans, and guests convened in Folsom for a grand celebration marked by tradition and camaraderie. The Folsom Marine Corps League hosted a special Ball on November 10, bringing together community members, service personnel, and supportive families for an evening dedicated to reflecting on the Corps’ proud history since its founding on November 10, 1775.

Pageantry, Remembrance, and Community
The event featured time-honored traditions, including the ceremonial cake cutting and the reading of the resolution that created the Continental Marines. Guests had the opportunity to honor past and present Marines, share stories of sacrifice, and join in dancing and dinner. Attendance included active-duty service members, local leaders, and veterans—many of whom spoke of the enduring strength, resilience, and brotherhood found in Marine Corps service over generations.
Nationwide Celebrations Mark Historic Milestone
Similar birthday balls and events took place nationwide, with the 250th anniversary recognized in Philadelphia—where the Marine Corps originated—and at national museums and bases. Leadership, active members, and Gold Star families were all honored, and tributes focused on both the historical legacy and the forward commitment Marines bring to protecting the nation. The Folsom celebration echoed the powerful pride felt across America as the Marine Corps marks a quarter-millennium of fidelity, courage, and service.
